Pay tribute to those who fell in Ypres in World War I at Tyne Cot Cemetery. There is also the "Memorial to the Missing," commemorating the soldiers who were never found. The cemetery is the resting place of the remains of the Commonwealth soldiers and a show of tribute by King Albert I of Belgium to the British forces that sacrificed their lives for Belgium. Notable graves include multiple soldiers posthumously awarded the Victoria's Cross for exceptional bravery. This honor is denoted with a Victoria Cross symbol on the soldier's gravestone. Tyne Cot Commonwealth War Graves Cemetery and Memorial to the Missing is a very respectful and Tranquil place. If you're in Belgium I definitely recommend that you come here no matter how far away it is out of your way. It is a Very moving place with many graves that are honoured even if their names are not known. It is Definitely somewhere worth visiting and paying respects to. It offers much information as well. The site is very well maintained.
Strong place. You should come and see and do your best to avoid it happening again.
