#2 of 623 in Museums in Ontario
Constructed at the beginning of the 20th century in the Gothic Revival style, Casa Loma represents the city's only castle. The midtown landmark once served as the formal residence of financier Henry Mill Pellat, known for helping bring hydroelectric power to Toronto. Originally the largest private home in Canada, the grandiose 98-room castle now acts as a museum, often used for wedding ceremonies and movie shoots. Choose between several themed guided tours, or pick up a digital audio guide at the entrance and explore the castle and gardens on your own. • Visited Casa Loma in September 2019. Not too busy. Venue was getting set up for Halloween, so plenty of creepy stuff being displayed. Plenty to see. If you're a film buff, you'll recognize hallways....  more »
  • Surpasses all your expectations. We were awestruck by the sheer royalty that reflects of the palace. Must do in toronto.  more »

  • What a great and sad story Casa Loma is for Toronto. Just great that Toronto decided to share the story with the world. Great part of history here. Many firsts thanks to the man who built this. Really liked the audio guide that was included and offered in several languages. It was better than I had expected, so that was great for me, because I'm generally not a fan of museum type outings. This was different because I could get a real sense of living there. If you haven't been, just go. Life is short.
  • Beautiful historical home. The decorations for Christmas definitely made it a much more enjoyable experience. It was nice to see so much of the castle and not have a lot of closed off areas. The access to go all the way up in the towers was awesome and there is a beautiful view from the top of the Norman Tower. The tunnel to the stables was awesome and again the holiday decorations were top notch. I would definitely recommend!!
