Sanssouci Palace was the summer residence of the King of Prussia, Frederick the Great. Admire the palace's grand Rococo architecture, and stroll through landscaped gardens filled with fountains and marble statues. On the castle hill, you can find the king's tomb. Marvel at the opulent furnishings throughout. The Voltaire Room's woodcarvings of apes, parrots, cranes, storks, fruits, and flowers are a particular highlight. You can explore the palace on a guided tour in German or via audio guide (available in English); both are scheduled, so check the times when you arrive. Astonishing architectural spot created by an extraordinary mind of the Fredrick the Great. It is so rare that you see a king and leader with great taste of art such as Sanssouci Palace. My favourite p... more »
One of the most important touristic places around Berlin and Potsdam. A extraordinary part of history and a extraordinary space to calm the mind. I would avoid the main tourist times, its very crowded around 10 to 15 after and before it is very nice. Every part inside is important so a whole day is recommended to use.
Beautiful park but you must arrive early to see everything, otherwise you can just get tickets for individual palaces. Buildings could stay open a bit later given the size of the site, also lockers are not provided for tours of the main palace which made the visit a lot less enjoyable. Staff not particularly friendly.
