Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Puglia / Province of Bari / Alberobello / I Trulli di Alberobello - World Heritage Site
One of Italy's best-preserved medieval settlements, I Trulli di Alberobello - World Heritage Site is a World Heritage site. Nestled in the Puglia countryside, the town is known for its rows of white, cone-shaped stone houses known as trulli. These now host craft shops, restaurants, and accommodations. Wander the narrow, cobblestone streets, and peer into the small dry-stone huts to admire the vernacular architecture. Walk up to the main church on the hillside for a view of the fairytale-like village. The town is well-known for its pastries and sweets, so consider a stop at a bakery. Apart from the abundance of shops, all offering the same products, you can wander around in this place and imagine how life used to be in the trulli-era. You can see and feel why this is a World... more »
A small town that has beautiful architecture, but too many small shops that offer one and the same goods. I'm sorry, but there's not much to see here. Prices are too high, as in all such... more »
Such a cute town. Unique, historical and romantic. We spent a day in Alberobello and it's a real pearl. Don't forget to visit this incredible place. If you are a young couple you will love this place in the evening...full is small nice corners and lights!
One of my favorite spots in Italy! The true Italian spirit. It is literally a village with midget houses with round roofs. It is protected by UNESCO and is definitely a hot spot for the tourists in the area. The Trulli area is wonderful and it had anything from artisan shops to small restaurants and even small museums. Some of the trulli are for rent and one could spend the night in there. Recommended.
