Discover one of the finest examples of Italian-Gothic architecture at Duomo di Orvieto. In the hilltop town of Orvieto, the 13th-century cathedral features a dominating front facade of golden mosaics, three bronze doors, and a large rose window. Tour the interior to admire two frescoed chapels that are said to have influenced Michelangelo's painting of the Sistine Chapel. The beauty of the art inside this cathedral is truly amazing, in a wonderful Etruscan hill town. This is definitely worth the time spent. more »

This is a wonderful place to visit on your Italy trip.It makes for a relatively restful day in a smaller town which dates back to Etruscan times. The cathedral itself is beautiful and impressive and sets the atmosphere for the rest of this quaint Village on a Hilltop. My 26 year old son enjoyed this town more than Rome, Florence, and Venice. The train stops here on its way from Rome to Florence so it is a convenient place to stop in to relax for a day. There are a lot of handcrafted pieces for sale in cute little shops and delicious food is available. Highly recommended.!!

Orvieto is situated at hillside. Wonderful town with a brilliant cathedral from medieval ages. It is really colorful. It stands on a square in the heart of old town. Beautiful exterior and breathtaking interior. Don't miss its chapel with extraordinary frescoes.
