Visit Fukuyama Castle, one of the greatest castles of the Edo Period. Originally built in the early 17th century, this six-story castle was rebuilt in 1966 because it was mostly destroyed by air raids during World War II. The castle was once surrounded by a double moat, but unfortunately today that has been replaced by pavement. While the castle housed many notable families throughout its history, it now serves as a museum. It's worthwhile to hire a local guide when visiting the museum in order to learn about the significance of different exhibits.
