Have your wishes granted at Kiyomizu-dera Temple, an independent Buddhist temple and World Heritage Site dating back to 1633. Constructed during the Heian period, the main temple and its famous stage were built without using nails. From the stage, look out onto the treetops below and the view of Kyoto in the distance. In the temple complex, drink from the three streams of the Otowa waterfall, whose waters are believed to have wish-granting powers. At the Jishu shrine to the god of love and matchmaking, try to walk between two stones with your eyes closed: those who are successful will also successfully find love. Kiyomizu-dera Temple Reviews

Due to a partially closed measurement The rain and the leaves are still not changing, so the trip is not agile, and the scenery of the temple is not visible. There are many trees, and there are also regular temple charges.View original -
The is a bus station at the bottom of the hill, meaning you will need to walk up the hill past shops selling touristy trinkets. This is a beautiful, well kept temple. However, after the rich cultural ... more »

Not particularly my favorite shrine in the area, mainly because how busy it was with tourists and you had to pay to get in. Also, the building was horded and under construction so that took away from it. I will say that the view of the city is fantastic and it does offer a great vantage point. The walk up through the small streets and shops was more memorable.

Maybe I'm just a fat American but if you're going to take anything from this review it should be this...... TAKE A CAB! We thought we was cute and decided to bike to this temple. Worst idea. Not only were we walking but we were also pushing a bike uphill too. The entire road to this beautiful temple is all uphill. Then when you get there. ...BOOM stairs. Jeez. Opens at 6am. We went around that time and watched the sun rise. I recommend. This is a great starting point for your day of temple hopping. Come here then you can hit up the imperial palaces after. We went during off season so it was empty but I can see why this place can get packed. An absolutely beautiful temple, on top of some gigantic mountain, and for a few hundred Yen. Well worth it.
