Set against the background of Himeji Castle, a World Heritage Site, Otemae Street makes a very attractive stroll stretching some 1.2 km (0.75 mi) from Himeji station to the castle. Offering a superb view of the castle, which sits high atop a hill at the far end of the street, this nicely paved, tree-lined boulevard provides great vibes and good photo opportunities. Sit on a bench and feel the energy of local life, or admire numerous bronze statues by famous Japanese sculptors.
