Taste the old days of Osaka at Hozenji Yokocho, set in a narrow stone-paved lane of the city’s bohemian quarter. An Edo-era row with gastropubs, cafes, and nearby old theaters, the alley makes a popular spot to sample the city's nightlife and taste some great food. Smell incense wafting from the Hozen shrine tucked in the alley off the busy main streets, and see the famous mossy Buddha, the "kami" of fury, now fully covered in moss. Stop for a prayer, pour water over statues, or find an eatery and hunt for souvenirs along the alley, which sits 5 minutes walk from Namba station, exit 14.
