  • It is February Hall where there is an old tomb which quietly stands when the slope is climbed a little from the right hand side of Todaiji Temple. It is a temple where the famous stage for water removal is dignified, but the appearance is quiet and calms down. When you climb the stone steps on the right side of the main hall and climb to the stage, you can see the townscape of Nara and Todaiji Temple below. It is said that there is this name because "Water removal (Shujikai)" is held in February of the lunar calendar. I think that it is a great place to think quietly, so why not visit once.

  • We climbed up just before sunset on the advice of the tourist information office. We are glad we did sunset from the temple balcony was a beautiful sight. The are many lamps and paper lanterns that get switched on at dusk. It made for a magical walk back down to the park.
  • after enduring all the tourists at the big Todaiji temple this one was an awesome quiet spot to discover! You have a great view and can enjoy the calmness. It seems to be opened 24/7, so I guess watching the sunset or rise here would be great as well! Take the steps down and follow the path for a quiet walk!
