The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses
The Historic Villages of Shirakawa-go Gassho Style Houses offers a glimpse into the lifestyle of villagers occupying traditional wooden frame houses. These houses, built in the "gassho-zukuri" (prayer hands) style, are known for their steeply slanted roofs, which recall two hands joined in prayer. The homes are very large, built to house entire extended families and family businesses and to withstand the region's heavy snowfall in winter. Enter one or two of the designated open houses to see the layout and delicate decorations inside. We were here for one night. Lovely all time can take to walk around. Beautiful houses with those pointy roofs. This on to prevent snow and rain from decaying the reeds. But you're not alone in the afternoon. There are a lot of buses. You walk through a kind of open air museum. There are not many places on lunch.View original -
more »
It used to be good, but it has become a tourist destination with too many people. Once you've visited, there are a few sightseeing spots that aren't worth visiting. It's worth visiting for Chinese people and people who love crowds.View original
