Trip Planner: Asia / Philippines / Mimaropa / Palawan Province / Palawan Island / Puerto Princesa / Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park
Voted one of the new seven wonders of nature and listed as a World Heritage Site, Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is reportedly the longest navigable underground waterway on earth. The area is a designated national park and home to the diverse wildlife of bats, reptiles, primates, sea snakes, and other marine creatures. You may run into monkeys and komodo dragons resting in the lush vegetation that surrounds a small blue lagoon at the cave's mouth. Hop on a boat and embark on a journey down the river, winding through a massive cave. See sleeping bats and stalactites hanging from the ceiling like shreds of petrified drapery. In 2010, geologists discovered another level inside the cave with small waterfalls and a large dome rising 300 m (980 ft) above the water. Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park reviews

This was an absolutely perfect experience! The place is stunning and everything is well organized. The boat tours are safe and informative. We went with organized trip from the hotel. Little did we... more »
The Underground river itself is pretty amazing. UNESCO site..etc. it’s become a tourist site and that greatly detracts from the natural beauty of the experience. It’s virtually a cattle call from start to finish. We were informed that upon arrival the wait time would be newly 90 minutes but that there were plenty of other activities (zip line / mangrove tour - for an extra fee of course.) The tour operator was actually surprised no one in our group opted for an add on activity and actually replied “You guys feel like just sitting around for and hour and a half!!!” Um... no. So we have a choice? The name of the game is wait. Take a boat. Wait. Take a smaller boat. Wait. Don’t feed the monkeys. Wait. The tour itself comes with audio commentary and would be enjoyable enough without the corny wisecracks from the bored boat operators. Every photo we took there strongly features the very same Chinese tourists who from the previous tourist stop. Hard to find any places in the world not overrun with tourists these days.
Very short excursion. Beautiful. 1000p for 30 min in the cave. Minding it's almost 2h drive from PP i wouldn't redo it for the cave only. Take the local jeepney for 150p. Not the scam priced minivans or taxis.
