Landmark · Tourist Spot
Step right into the heart of the historic center of the city with a visit to Stortorget. The city's central square dates back to the 16th century and at the time it was built it was one of the largest in northern Europe. Next to an array of cafes, restaurants, and shops are some of the city's oldest and most striking buildings. Dominating the square are the imposing statues of King Charles X Gustav and the city hall with its distinctive Dutch Renaissance facade. The square functions as a venue for various live performances.
