Brouwersgracht, Amsterdam

#206 of 1,208 in Things to do in Amsterdam
Landmark · Tourist Spot
Opt for a scenic stroll along Brouwersgracht, a canal in Amsterdam and one of the city's most beautiful streets. Named for its prevalence of breweries in the 16th and 17th centuries, it is still home to a number of breweries and distilleries where you can grab a drink. The street once housed warehouses that stored and processed goods such as leather, coffee, whale oil, and spices. You'll notice a few of these still standing along the canal today, fine examples of functioning warehouses. Other architectural attractions include the picturesque rows of unique historical houses and a narrow corridor that leads to hidden church. • This area is not far from the main Central Railway Station. It is great to either relax in one of the many cafes and bars or just wander around.  more »
