Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get some historical perspective at Colosseum and Pantheon. Appreciate the collections at Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese. Step out of Rome with an excursion to Sabbianera Super Beach in Anguillara Sabazia--about 46 minutes away. Next up on the itinerary: appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, explore the ancient world of Forum of Augustus, take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Peter's Basilica, and admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain.
