Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Kick off your visit on the 12th (Thu): tour the pleasant surroundings at Kondoi Beach and then take a leisurely stroll along Nishi Pier. On the 13th (Fri), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: enjoy the sand and surf at Yonehara Beach, visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki, and then enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory.

Taketomicho Iriomote-Jima stands as the second largest island in Okinawa.
Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sat): step off the mainland to explore Iriomote Island and then scramble along the landscape with a canyoning and rapelling tour. You can ride a ferry from Ishigaki to Iriomote-jima in an hour. In December in Iriomote-jima, expect temperatures between 26°C during the day and 20°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 15th (Sun) early enough to ride a ferry to Miyakojima.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Kids will enjoy Sunayama Beach and Yonaha Maehama Beach. Get outdoors at Toguchi no Hama and Aragusuku Beach. You can ride a ferry from Iriomote-jima to Miyakojima in 4 hours. In December, daily temperatures in Miyakojima can reach 25°C, while at night they dip to 20°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) so you can travel to Onna-son.
