Founded in 1535 by Spanish explorer Francisco Pizarro, Lima represents an interesting blend of modern attractions and preserved colonial architecture, much of it clustered in the World Heritage-listed city center.
Get some cultural insight at Iglesia y Convento de San Francisco and Larco Museum. Your inner history buff will appreciate Huaca Pucllana and Centro Historico de Lima. Get out of town with these interesting Lima side-trips: Palomino (in Callao) and El Silencio (in Punta Hermosa). There's still lots to do: wander the streets of Miraflores, don't miss a visit to Circuito Magico del Agua, stroll through Parque Kennedy - Parque Central de Miraflores, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedral of Lima.
