Rome— 1 night
Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.Start off your visit on the 14th (Sat): admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, admire the striking features of Pantheon, then appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, then take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di San Pietro, and finally delve into the distant past at Colosseum. Keep things going the next day: make a trip to Spanish Steps, then admire the masterpieces at Borghese Gallery, then pause for some serene contemplation at St. Clement Basilica, and finally steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill.
