Tokyo holds the status of most populous metropolitan area in the world--a fact you'll find tangible as you walk the bustling streets and explore its diverse neighborhoods and cultures.
Asakusa Shrine and Sensō-ji will appeal to history buffs. Get some cultural insight at Tokyo National Museum and Kōtoku-in. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Edo-Tokyo Museum, admire the striking features of Tokyo Tower, wander the streets of Odaiba, and don't miss a visit to Meiji Jingu Shrine.

Vancouver, Canada to Tokyo is an approximately 13.5-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of train and flight. The time zone changes from Pacific Standard Time to Japan Standard Time, which is usually a 17 hour difference. Traveling from Vancouver in November, expect Tokyo to be a bit warmer, temps between 19°C and 11°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 12th (Tue) to allow enough time to take a train to Kanazawa.

An old castle town largely unspoiled during World War II, Kanazawa features well-preserved architecture spread across a range of districts.
You'll discover tucked-away gems like Chirihama Nagisa Driveway and Ainokura Gassho Community. Museum-lovers will appreciate Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum and Shirakawago Gassho Zukuri Minkaen. Get out of town with these interesting Kanazawa side-trips: Daihonzan Eiheiji Temple (in Eiheiji-cho), Maruoka Castle (in Sakai) and Natadera Temple (in Komatsu). Get some historical perspective at Eikando Zenrinji Temple and Nijo Castle. Do some cultural sightseeing at Kiyomizu-dera Temple and Fushimi Inari-taisha Shrine. Step out of Kyoto with an excursion to Osaka Castle in Osaka--about 1h 10 min away. The adventure continues: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kinkaku-ji, contemplate the long history of Sanjusangendo Temple, and take a stroll through Gion.

On the 22nd (Fri), take a tour by water with Boat Tours & Water Sports, then visit a coastal fixture at Cape Hirakubozaki, and then enjoy breathtaking views from Tamatorizaki Observatory.
