Kick off your visit on the 1st (Sat): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Kozenji Temple, get engrossed in the history at Minakata Kumagusu Archives, then try out the rides at Adventure World, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Hosshinmon Oji. Here are some ideas for day two: get great views at Lover's Cape, then meet the residents at Susami Crustacean Aquarium, then look for gifts at Tore Tore Market, and finally ponder the design of Nonaka-no Shimizu.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
When in Kyoto, make a side trip to see Universal Studios Japan in Osaka, approximately 1:15 hours away. There's much more to do: contemplate the long history of Kiyomizu-dera, explore the historical opulence of Nijo Castle, take in the spiritual surroundings of Fushimi Inari Taisha, and wander the streets of Gion.

You can drive from Shirahama-cho to Kyoto in 3 hours. Another option is to take a train. Expect a daytime high around 36°C in July, and nighttime lows around 28°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 5th (Wed) so you can travel to Tokyo.

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Sunayama Beach and Nagamahama Beach Coast. Attractions like Aragusuku Beach and Nakanoshima Beach make great kid-friendly stops. Getting from Tokyo to Miyakojima by flight takes about 4.5 hours. Traveling from Tokyo in July, expect nights in Miyakojima to be about the same, around 31°C, while days are a bit warmer, around 37°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 13th (Thu) to allow time to travel to Ishigaki.

Ishigaki, the most populous island in the chain, features the country's southernmost city and acts as a transport hub for exploring the landmasses that surround.
Explore hidden gems such as Yonehara Beach and Tamatorizaki Observatory. Explore Ishigaki's surroundings by going to Kuro-shima Taketomi-cho (Iko Pier & Nakamoto Beach). There's still lots to do: discover the deep blue sea with a scuba or snorkeling tour, enjoy breathtaking views from Maesedake Observation Site, glide peacefully along the water with some of the best stand-up paddleboarding in the area, and explore the activities along Kabira Bay.
