Motobu-cho

Formed by the gradual merging of several old fishing villages, today the island town of Motobu-cho boasts paradisal beaches of white sand, clear waters, and a rich array of wildlife.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Okichan Theater and Okinawa Memorial Park Ocean Expo Park. Bring the kids along to Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium and Nakayukui Market Onna Station. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Motobu-cho: Kunigami-son (Okuma Beach & Daisekirinzan) and Scuba & Snorkeling (in Onna-son). The adventure continues: take in the dramatic natural features at Bise no Warumi.

Miyakojima

A city jurisdiction formed after the merger of several towns in 2005, Miyakojima spans six linked-up islands.

Traveling by combination of ferry and flight from Motobu-cho to Miyakojima takes 4.5 hours. Traveling from Motobu-cho in March, expect a bit warmer with lows of 20°C in Miyakojima. Finish your sightseeing early on the 4th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel to Ishigaki.
