Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica and Church of St. Louis of the French. Appreciate the collections at Le Domus Romane di Palazzo Valentini and Musei Capitolini. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rome: Giardino di Ninfa (in Cisterna di Latina) and Museo Storico Piana delle Orme (in Borgo Faiti). There's more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Abbey of St. Paul Outside the Walls and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli.

To find more things to do, traveler tips, other places to visit, and other tourist information, you can read our Rome holiday planner.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. March in Rome sees daily highs of 61°F and lows of 45°F at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 11th (Sun) early enough to travel back home.
