Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get some cultural insight at Colosseum and Pantheon. Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese will appeal to museum buffs. Take a break from Rome with a short trip to Villa Adriana in Tivoli, about 36 minutes away. There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to Piazza Navona, admire the striking features of Sistine Chapel, steep yourself in history at Palatine Hill, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Louis of the French.

If you are flying in from Ireland, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. October in Rome sees daily highs of 26°C and lows of 15°C at night. Cap off your sightseeing on the 3rd (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
