Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get some cultural insight at Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica. Vatican Museums and Sistine Chapel will appeal to museum buffs. Take a break from Rome with a short trip to Villa Adriana in Tivoli, about 36 minutes away. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of Palatine Hill, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Louis of the French, explore the ancient world of Forum of Augustus, and don't miss a visit to Roman Forum.

If you are flying in from Ireland, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 26°C in October, and nighttime lows around 15°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 3rd (Fri) so you can travel back home.
