Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get a sense of the local culture at Colosseum and Piazza Navona. Pantheon and Palatine Hill will appeal to history buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Sabbianera Super Beach (in Anguillara Sabazia) and Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare (in Maccarese). The adventure continues: make a trip to St. Peter's Basilica, take a stroll through Via Condotti, admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese, and enjoy the sand and surf at V Lounge Beach Club.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In September, daytime highs in Rome are 32°C, while nighttime lows are 18°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 5th (Wed) early enough to travel back home.
