Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Attractions like Colosseum and Piazza Navona make great kid-friendly stops. There's lots more to do: ponder the design of Trevi Fountain, explore the world behind art at Vatican Museums, make a trip to Roman Forum, and delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill.

If you are flying in from Belgium, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. August in Rome sees daily highs of 38°C and lows of 24°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 18th (Fri) early enough to travel back home.
