Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica are good opportunities to explore the local culture. You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare and V Lounge Beach Club. Change things up with a short trip to Point Break in Fregene (about 42 minutes away). There's lots more to do: explore the world behind art at Vatican Museums, wander the streets of Via Condotti, pause for some serene contemplation at Pantheon, and appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona.

For photos, other places to visit, reviews, and more tourist information, go to the Rome itinerary planner.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In May, plan for daily highs up to 28°C, and evening lows to 17°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 26th (Sat) early enough to travel back home.
