Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Step off the beaten path and head to Villa d'Este and Civita di Bagnoregio. Satisfy your inner culture vulture at Colosseum and Pantheon. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Rome: Duomo di Orvieto (in Orvieto), Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica (in Ostia Antica) and Cattedrale di Santa Maria Assunta Spoleto (in Spoleto). There's much more to do: delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of St. Louis of the French, take in the spiritual surroundings of Chiesa di Sant'Ignazio di Loyola, and make a trip to Santa Maria Sopra Minerva.

If you are flying in from Brazil, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In October, daily temperatures in Rome can reach 26°C, while at night they dip to 15°C. Cap off your sightseeing on the 23rd (Tue) early enough to travel back home.
