In many ways the most modern of Italian cities, Milan is a busy, elegant metropolis with an impressive list of grand palaces, fine churches, and important museums.
Start off your visit on the 23rd (Sat): explore the different monuments and memorials at Monumental Cemetery and then take an in-depth tour of Pinacoteca Ambrosiana. On your second day here, shop like a local with Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Duomo di Milano, then step into the grandiose world of Castello Sforzesco, and finally explore the galleries of Basilica di Sant'Ambrogio.

Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Get out of town with these interesting Venice side-trips: Padua (Basilica of St. Anthony, Chiesa degli Eremitani - World Heritage Site, &more) and Verona (Museo di Castelvecchio, Arena di Verona, &more). There's still lots to do: contemplate the waterfront views at Canal Grande, take in panoramic vistas at St Mark's Campanile, snap pictures at Ponte dei Sospiri, and admire the masterpieces at Museo Correr.
