Proud of their hometown's distinct culture and dialect, many natives of Osaka describe their city as "Japan's anti-capital." An antidote to Tokyo's hectic energy, Osaka marches to the beat of its own drum, serving as the country's longtime commercial and industrial hub.
On the 13th (Fri), appreciate the views at Arima Onsen, then explore the historical opulence of Osaka Castle, then take a stroll through Dotonbori, and finally shop like a local with Hankyu Umeda Honten. On the 14th (Sat), you'll have a packed day of sightseeing: take in the awesome beauty at Mt. Wakakusa, contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nigatsu-do Temple, take in the spiritual surroundings of Toshodai-ji Temple, then make a trip to Hozenji Yokocho, and finally stop by Kimono Photo Studio Wasabi Osaka.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to Osaka is an approximately 10-hour flight. You can also do a combination of flight and train; or do a combination of car and ferry. Due to the time zone difference, you'll lose 1 hour traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Osaka. Traveling from Kuala Lumpur in March, expect Osaka to be colder, temps between 16°C and 5°C. Finish your sightseeing early on the 14th (Sat) to allow enough time to take a train to Kyoto.

The national capital for over a thousand years, Kyoto retains much of the charm of old Japan, boasting numerous temples and shrines that seem completely untouched by the modern world.
Kick off your visit on the 15th (Sun): take in the spiritual surroundings of Heian Shrine, shop like a local with Nishiki Market Shopping District, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Nishi Honganji, then contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Sanjusangendo Temple, and finally take in the spiritual surroundings of Kennin-ji Temple.

Kyoto is very close to Osaka. In March in Kyoto, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 5°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 16th (Mon) to allow enough time to take a train to Nagoya.

Known nationally as an industrial heartland, Nagoya boasts a far more cosmopolitan and cultural core than its reputation would lead you to believe.
Visit Atsuta Jingu Shrine and Naegi Castle Ruins for their historical value. You'll discover tucked-away gems like Gozaisho-dake and Toyota Commemorative Museum of Industry and Technology. Get out of town with these interesting Nagoya side-trips: Spas (in Kuwana) and Kokeizan Eihoji Temple (in Tajimi). And it doesn't end there: get up close and personal with brilliant marine life at Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium, admire the landmark architecture of Arimatsu no Machinami, shop like a local with Sakae, and stroll through Yamazaki River.

You can take a train from Kyoto to Nagoya in an hour. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. In March in Nagoya, expect temperatures between 13°C during the day and 7°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
