Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli and Church of St. Louis of the French. Colosseum and Pantheon will appeal to history buffs. Explore Rome's surroundings by going to Cantina Todini (in Todi), Etruscaia (in Tarquinia) and Orvieto (Duomo di Orvieto & Madonna del Latte). The adventure continues: explore the galleries of Vatican Museums, wander the streets of Trastevere, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, and contemplate the long history of Palatine Hill.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport and Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport. In February, plan for daily highs up to °F, and evening lows to °F. Finish your sightseeing early on the 18th (Sun) so you can travel back home.
