City of Yatai

The largest city on the island, Fukuoka formed through the merger of two former cities that had grown up either side of the Naka River.
Mojiko Retro and Kokura Castle are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Head to Tenjin Underground Shopping Center and Marinoa City Fukuokafor some retail therapy. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Fukuoka: Kitakyushu (Kitakyushu Museum of Natural History & Human History & Kanmon Kaikyo) and Dazaifu (Kyushu National Museum, Hikoroku, &more).
