Venice Beach, Venice

#2 of 17 in Outdoors in Venice
Must see · Beach · Nature / Park
At Venice Beach--reputedly the shark-tooth capital of the world--take time to swim, go scuba diving, relax on the broad expanse of sand, and beachcomb for fossilized shark's teeth that make the beach famous. From the shore or the boardwalk, watch for bottlenose dolphins frolicking in the water. If you are a diver, paddle out 400 m (0.25 mi) to explore the coral reef. Stroll along the Venice pier, where you can fish, take in the view, or grab a hot dog from the bait shop. For a more substantial meal, head to Sharky's on the pier for shrimp and chips or lobster-stuffed flounder. It couldn't be easier to arrange your visit to Venice Beach and many more Venice attractions: make an itinerary online using Inspirock's Venice tour itinerary website.

  • We enjoyed our walk on this beach and found lots of coquina shells. We didn't find any shark teeth, it might have just been a bad day for them here.  more »
  • Free parking at this public beach. Hint: arrive early. That means before 10AM. Traffic gets heavy and congested as the day goes on. This is not a white sand beach. Plenty opportunity to hunt shells.  more »
