Catedral Primada
Despite its undoubted importance as a religious landmark, Catedral Primada is best known as the burial site of General Jose de San Martin, Argentina's celebrated national hero. You can see San Martin's sarcophagus at a mausoleum inside the church--note the statues of three women guarding the general and representing Argentina, Chile, and Peru. The somber cathedral, which looks more like a bank building from the outside, also contains the remains of other Argentinean war heroes. I did not expect to find a beautiful interior. I didn't spend much time here. I just basically looked at the mausoleum of General Jose de San Martin since I was pressed for time.

Beautiful church and it is a most to visit San Martin's resting place. After it, walk to the plaza de Mayo and stop for cup of coffee to take a view of the area

In itself, this cathedral is impressive and definitely worth seeing. And, one should note the important history behind its construction. But, more so, this is the church that current Pope used to preside in. There is also a bunch to see and do in the area. There are a number of great parks, local art, fountains, restaurants and shopping.
