The mausoleums display a wide array of architectural styles, sculptures, and motifs, from Baroque to Art Deco, many constructed from materials imported from Paris and Milan. The cemetery serves as the final resting place for artists, actors, writers, and Nobel Prize winners, 19 Argentine presidents, and the beloved icon Eva Perón. Although some tombs are protected by the government, parts of the cemetery have fallen into disrepair. While the cemetery can be explored without a guide, having someone to recount the stories behind the different mausoleums can greatly enrich your trip. The most outstanding, impressive place I've been probably ever. Grandiose is really the word I would use. The sepulchres are so ornate and so beautifully kept. To observe the burial places of prominent figures in Argentina's history is an honor. Truly spectacular to see on a nice day like today.

Amazing and humbling experience. The annals of time are phenomenally preserved for the aristocracy, rich and less elite alike. Fascinating display of Catholic burial rituals made available to the public a history of those gone but not forgotten, spanning more than a hundred years. Many family trees rest among the trees here at Recoleta. A wonderful experience for those interested in all facets of life.
