Create an itinerary including Valley of the Moon
Seek adventure in a landscape of jagged rock spires at Valley of the Moon, located just minutes from La Paz. Literally translated from Spanish as the "Valley of the Moon," the landscape was created by gradual erosion by wind and water. You can see why the bizarre clay formations have always drawn comparisons to the otherworldly as you wander through the field of spires and climb up staircases carved into the rock. Note the many colors of the landscape, ranging from sandy brown to red and violet, caused by the variety of minerals in the rock. • This place is AWESOME! Eroded pillars of white Andean mineral in a condensed area with walking trail, hygiene facility, many photographic opportunities, and places to just take in the 360° mountain vista that surrounds La Paz. Reminiscent but different from Bryce hoodoos. Well named "Valley of the moon, because the unique features and especially the white color do make you think of the lunar surface. An easy drive compared to other mountain views.
  • This park is quite small and doesn't have a lot to do in it. The longest route is 45 minutes and that's if you're taking breaks. The view itself is nice, but in my opinion wasn't worth the ride from the city. If you are in La Paz and you have a lazy day then it could be nice to visit and it's not expensive. But I think there's no reason to come here specifically. The entry is 15 Boliviano which is cheap in comparison to other attractions. There are buggys you can ride and see the park from outside nearby, but it would cost more money.
