  • A high point with scenic views A tower stands at a scenic viewpoint from which you can see the forests and the mountains and the town of Karlovy Vary nestled in the valley below. Many of the visitors to Karlovy Vary over the centuries have visited here, including Goethe. A funicular takes you from the town to the summit, and there are pleasant paths and hikes through the surrounding woods.
  • After taking the funicular (cable car) from the edge of town to the top of the ridge, and climbing (via lift) to the top of the observation tower, where we caught some exceptional panoramic views over Karlovy Vary and the surrounding area - we hopped into the restaurant right next to the base of the tower, "just for a quick drink before we head back"... Or so we thought :) Albeit being quite a large space, there was a nice and cozy atmosphere, and we couldn't resist getting their hearty Goulash, that was served in (!) a loaf of locally baked bread... Rest of the meal was absolutely delicious, and felt very authentic and traditional. If I had to fault anything, I'd say the venison dish may have been slightly dry/overcooked (for my taste at least), but it was all such a delight that it totally made up for it :) Bottom line - If you're in the area, don't skip this opportunity for a lovely meal and an overall grand experience.
