Create an itinerary including Kronborg
A place of pilgrimage for Shakespearean scholars from around the world, Kronborg represents one of Europe's most recognizable Renaissance structures and is a World Heritage Site. Built in the 1420s as a stronghold for King Eric VII, the castle shot to fame in the early 17th century when it inspired Shakespeare to use it as a setting for "Hamlet." Follow in Hamlet's footsteps in the soldier's quarters and storerooms, which stretch beneath the castle and contain a famed statue of the legendary Viking chief Holger the Dane. • This was a great experience. We were able to explore most of the castle and grounds, which was great. The casement was the best. To be under the castle and imagine all the things that happened. The staff was friendly for the most part. We especially liked the man who was teaching folks how to fence. He was very lively and engaging. We had a lot of fun exploring.
  • It is nice to go there as a day trip from Copenhagen, I personally went by car but also with public transportation is quite easy. The castle is not very full and luxurious in the inside, but it is a nice fortress. The story is quite interesting. Also fascinating seeing Sweden so clearly on the other side. I would also suggest to visit the Maritime Museum (amazing for kids)!!
