Discover the underwater life of the strait that separates South Korea and Japan at Marine World umino-nakamichi, an aquarium focusing on aquatic life found in the Tsushima Strait. Opened in 1989, the facility contains around 70 tanks, with the three largest providing a home for dolphins and sharks. Catch a dolphin and sea lion show during your visit to see the impressive relationship built up by the trainers and the creatures. A number of hands-on, interactive exhibits communicate the natural heritage of the waters surrounding the country, making the topic accessible for visitors of all ages. We took our 1 year old baby here. It’s quite small but we really love it. The shows were quite good but my son is too young to appreciate it. Would come back again if we visit Fukuoka.

Animals seem well taken care of, though they still have an antiquated dolphin show and the porpoise tanks are small. The exhibits are well designed and covers many different ecosystems. The year pass is a very good value though the price of a single ticket seems expensive. One of the better aquariums I’ve been to in Japan.

A little outside the main city of Fukuoka. Better to take some food with you. Private car is good for minimize cost as well time. Outside environment is much better than indoor.
