A picturesque port town at the southern end of Fukuyama city, Tomo no Ura offers scenic views and an insight into Japan’s age of sails. Traditional dark wooden facades, a lovely 11 m (33 ft) tall Edo-period stone lighthouse, cobblestone steps, and a historic pier and old docks all preserve the Edo atmosphere. Famous for the production of "homeishu," medical liquor said to induce longevity, the port has a museum dedicated to it. You can also visit four temples and a shrine, as well as museum of history and folklore. Tomo Port sits 30 minutes by bus from Fukuyama. There’s really nothing much here for tourists. Similar to taking a trip to the outer islands in HK. But there’s no restaurants here, only coffee houses.

Lovely area. Kinda old fashioned fishing place. Great for fresh fish dishes and the town has a rich history and interesting building. Must visit if you're in the vicinity.

Love this place. Hardly any tourist and a nice town to explore. Worth spending a day here so that you can watch the sunset. But do note the bus timing.
