Create an itinerary including Tojimbo Cliff
Hike along Tojimbo Cliff, a series of rocky basalt cliffs that stretch for 1 km (0.6 mi) overlooking the Sea of Japan. Explore the rugged coast and note interesting rock formations eroded by the waves that crash on the bluffs, forming tall stone pillars and chasms. You can also enjoy the scenic landscape on a cruise along the shore, if the weather allows it. Climb the nearby Tojimbo Tower to enjoy a panoramic vista of the seaside beyond the cliffs. • The scenic cliffs made by wave erosion stretch for about one kilometer. An awesome creation of raging waves in the Japan Sea. As we have the JR rail pass, we decided to visit it when we were in...

  • I feel like I must put it out there, that the ferry does not stop at the island with the Tori gate. I think it was about $15/pp at the time. It will slow down to let you take pictures, but you will not be able to disembark there. It’s a beautiful place to behold, with food stalls and souvenir shops lined up along the sides. If you park at the top, don’t take the small, narrow metal case to go down. Apparently it’s private access ways for the shop employees and they discreetly placed a couch at the bottom to keep people from using it. Rather, there’s a larger staircase (next to an awesome juice shack-highly recommend) that you can take.
  • One of the most beautiful sight seeing place in fukui. Amazing sea view. Parking is available but is paid (500 yen) Soft cones with different ice cream flavors, corn, sweet potato on the main street to Cliffs! Ferry ride is amazing (~1000 yen) Highly recommended place in Fukui! Rent a car and enjoy the scenic beauty that leads to the cliffs! Cheers
