Afriski Mountain Resort remains the one of only two ski resorts in the south of the continent. Sited 3,050 m (10,006 ft) above sea level, the resort features a 1 km (0.6 mi) long run for intermediate skiers and a gentle beginners’ slope. From June to August it will feel like a white Christmas and you’ll almost forget that you are visiting the world’s hottest continent. The resort offers a wide variety of accommodations--ranging from budget rooms and lodges to mountain chalets. Caution booking, I’ve been fighting with Afriski for over 3months to return a deposit. You can never get through to call centre, no one ever returns emails. Their support is non-existent.

We planned our arrival to the resort on time to attend the last ski class of the day but we were met by a faulty offline system instead. Stood in line for 2 hours for equipment hire, and ended up missing out on the classes. We were overcharged due to the system being offline. The manager never made an appearance to sort it out. The next morning we asked for a refund for the first day that we had missed out on. The manager was standing right there but refused to speak to us and instead kept shouting at staff to sort us out instead. She kept saying we should be given vouchers and still refused to speak to us. Eventually we were promised a refund which, almost 2 weeks later we have not received and the manager has been asked to call us multiple times which she has not. The manager treats certain guests with respect and dignity, but others (which included us) very poorly. The manager was clearly treating guests and employees of colour very poorly (blatantly racist). We also spent nearly 3 full days without water and no effort was made to communicate with any of the guests. I have previously stayed at this resort and had a much better experience. If things carry on as they are now under the leadership of the current manager I would sincerely recommend taking your business elsewhere.
We had a great time at Afriski. The meals are a bit difficult though unless you want to eat at the main restaurant. The gondola takeaway closed earlier than they said, so we figured out that we had to get food by 16h00 if we wanted take away meals. Otherwise the slopes were great fun, and the staff were very friendly. Definitely a great place to go ski
