Dambulla is a must when you are in Sri Lanka. Be prepared to climb quite a few steps and don’t forget to dress appropriately. It’s a good idea to ask for a guide who can explain all the 5 caves there. Overall it’s very worth the travel and the effort! You’d be amazing for sure!!

Whether you are a person of faith or no faith, this is a real must see when visiting Sri Lanka! You will need to be reasonably fit as the only way to the caves is a fairly steep climb up a long flight of stone steps. That said, the steps are wide and well maintained so take plenty of water and enjoy the ever more beautiful views on your way up. Once at the temple itself, you're in for the treat of a lifetime! They are as incredible as they are serene.
