Rome — 9 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.Get some historical perspective at Colosseum and Piazza Navona. Do some cultural sightseeing at Pantheon and Vatican Museums. Go for a jaunt from Rome to Tivoli to see Villa Adriana about 36 minutes away. There's lots more to do: take in the architecture and atmosphere at St. Peter's Basilica, admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, explore the different monuments and memorials at Catacombs of Saint Callixtus, and admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese.
