Rome — 11 nights

Eternal City
Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.Explore hidden gems such as Villa d'Este and Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica. Colosseum and St. Peter's Basilica are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Orvieto (Pozzo di San Patrizio & Duomo di Orvieto), Cascata delle Marmore (in Marmore) and Villa Adriana (in Tivoli). There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cupola di San Pietro, take an in-depth tour of Museo Storico Piana delle Orme, pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica Papale San Paolo fuori le Mura, and delve into the distant past at Catacombs of Saint Callixtus.
