Rome — 11 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Explore hidden gems such as Villa d'Este and Parco Archeologico di Ostia Antica. Colosseum and Vatican Museums are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Cascata delle Marmore (in Marmore), Orvieto (Pozzo di San Patrizio & Duomo di Orvieto) and Villa Adriana (in Tivoli). There's lots more to do: contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Cupola di San Pietro, pause for some serene contemplation at Basilica Papale San Paolo fuori le Mura, explore the ancient world of Pantheon, and make a trip to Villa Borghese.
