City of the Four Names

The constitutional capital of Bolivia, Sucre has a well-preserved historic center, with many buildings dating back to the city's founding in the 16th century.
Sucre is known for sightseeing, historic sites, and museums. Your trip includes some of its best attractions: make a trip to Cal Orck'o, shake up your sightseeing with a climbing tour, admire the masterpieces at Museum of Indigenous Art ASUR, and look for gifts at Inca Pallay Shop.

Kathmandu, Nepal to Sucre is an approximately 37-hour flight. You can also fly. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 9.8 hours traveling from Kathmandu to Sucre. Expect little chillier weather when traveling from Kathmandu in September: highs in Sucre hover around 26°C, while lows dip to 8°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) early enough to fly to La Paz.

Take a moment to catch your breath as you commence your holiday in La Paz.
Spend the 7th (Wed) exploring the striking scenery along WMDR Yungas Road. There's still lots to do: push the limits with an extreme tour, don't miss a visit to Mi Teleferico, let the river carry you with a rafting and tubing tour, and see the interesting displays at National Museum of Ethnography and Folklore.

Traveling by flight from Sucre to La Paz takes 2.5 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or take a bus. Expect a bit cooler temperatures when traveling from Sucre in September; daily highs in La Paz reach 18°C and lows reach 0°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 7th (Wed) to allow time to drive to Copacabana.

The town of Copacabana represents the largest Bolivian settlement on the shore of Lake Titicaca, the largest lake in the continent.
On the 8th (Thu), trek along Isla del Sol. Here are some ideas for day two: contemplate the waterfront views at Lake Titicaca and then take in the spiritual surroundings of Basilica of Our Lady of Copacabana.

Tiwanaku — 1 night

Tiwanaku is a Pre-Columbian archaeological site in western Bolivia.The site was first recorded in written history by Spanish conquistador Pedro Cieza de León. Start off your visit on the 10th (Sat): steep yourself in history at Tiwanaku and then explore the ancient world of Puma Punku.

You can do a combination of ferry and taxi from Copacabana to Tiwanaku in 3 hours. Alternatively, you can drive; or do a combination of ferry and bus. In September in Tiwanaku, expect temperatures between 18°C during the day and 0°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 10th (Sat) so you can fly to Uyuni.

Uyuni — 3 nights

Emptiness surrounds the desert outpost of Uyuni, the gateway to the world's largest salt flats.
Take a break from Uyuni with a short trip to Pueblo Pulacayo in Potosi, about 40 minutes away. There's lots more to do: explore the striking landscape at Salar de Uyuni, get a new perspective on nature at Museo Arquecologia y Antropologico de los Andes Meridionales, see the interesting displays at Museo de la Llama y la Sal, and make a trip to Plaza Arce.

Getting from Tiwanaku to Uyuni by flight takes about 3 hours. Other options: drive; or take a bus.
