Rome — 16 nights

Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Museum-lovers will get to explore Vatican Museums and Galleria Borghese. Visit Lungolago di Marta and Riserva Naturale Regionale Macchiatonda for some beach relaxation. Explore Rome's surroundings by going to Centro Storico di Castro dei Volsci (in Castro dei Volsci), Fango e Sudore - Il museo del Rugby (in Artena) and Grotte di Falvaterra (in Falvaterra). There's still lots to do: get to know the fascinating history of Piazza Navona, ponder the design of Trevi Fountain, explore the ancient world of Catacombs of Saint Callixtus, and admire the striking features of Pantheon.

To see other places to visit, photos, maps, and other tourist information, refer to the Rome day trip planner.
