Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Kids will enjoy Colosseum and Palatine Hill. There's still lots to do: admire the local landmark of Trevi Fountain, pause for some serene contemplation at St. Clement Basilica, explore the world behind art at Galleria Borghese, and make a trip to Spanish Steps.

To find traveler tips, maps, and other tourist information, you can read our Rome trip itinerary builder site.

If you are flying in from United Kingdom, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. Expect a daytime high around 38°C in August, and nighttime lows around 24°C. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Thu) to allow time to travel back home.
