Rome — 2 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Attractions like Point Break and Lido di Enea make great kid-friendly stops. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare and Colle Capitolino. There's still lots to do: make a trip to Roman Forum, appreciate the extensive heritage of Piazza Navona, contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, and explore the ancient world of Palatine Hill.

If you are flying in from Romania, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In December in Rome, expect temperatures between 16°C during the day and 4°C at night. Wrap up your sightseeing on the 3rd (Sat) to allow time to travel back home.
