Rome — 4 nights

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Get a sense of the local culture at Colosseum and Piazza Navona. Pantheon and Vatican Museums will appeal to history buffs. Get out of town with these interesting Rome side-trips: Acqua e Sale - Stabilimento Balneare (in Maccarese) and Sabbianera Super Beach (in Anguillara Sabazia). There's lots more to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, make a trip to Roman Forum, delve into the distant past at Palatine Hill, and admire the masterpieces at Galleria Borghese.
