Rome — 8 nights

Eternal City

Aptly nicknamed the Eternal City, Rome is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, one of the world's greatest civilizations ever.
Vatican Museums and I Colori di Dentro di Maria Grazia Luffarelli will appeal to museum buffs. Family-friendly places like Colosseum and Trastevere will thrill your kids. Change things up with a short trip to Villa Adriana in Tivoli (about 36 minutes away). And it doesn't end there: steep yourself in history at St. Peter's Basilica, take a stroll through Via Condotti, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Santa Maria in Trastevere, and explore the different monuments and memorials at Catacombs of Saint Callixtus.

If you are flying in from United States, the closest major aiports are Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Ciampino–G. B. Pastine International Airport and Perugia San Francesco d'Assisi – Umbria International Airport. In April in Rome, expect temperatures between 69°F during the day and 49°F at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 24th (Wed) to allow enough time to travel back home.
